Summer Page Layout "Brushed" - Part II

This is the second page of my "Brushed" layout using the Close to My Heart "Brushed" (X7190B) paper pack.

Again I used design papers and cardstock provided in the packet. The beauty about the Close to My Heart paper pack is that you receive not only 6 design sheets (2 of 3 designs), but you also get 6 sheets or matching cardstock. So all work for you is done to create layouts like this.

Page two now has space for three 31/2" square pictures and one 3 3/4"x5 3/4" picture. The flower decoration is the same from page one.
Check my blog from last Friday about, how to create the embellishments.

The three square photo mats have adhesive at the edge of the sides and the bottom when I adhered them to the page. This way I created a pocket on top in which I inserted a pink cardstock tag. This tag can be used for hidden journaling or more photos. Remember each tag has two sides...so double the extra space!

Since the pockets are sitting towards the top of you page, you can place this layout into your sheet protector without alternating anything. You should be able to access the tag from the top of the protector.

There is another way to access these tags, especially when the pocket is in the middle or the bottom of your page. Stay tuned to find out how...

Do you like a page kit from this design to create at home or do you like to join on of my classes to learn how to make these pockets and so much more, please feel free to contact me (with any other questions as well)...I love to hear from you.

Easter Egg Card - Cricut Card

This is one of my personal favorite Easter cards we make in class. Maybe that's why we made another version of it this year... ;-)

How can you not resist? Well, this time I put my Cricut once more to work. The Close to My Heart "Artfully Sent" cartridge (Z3017) has so many great card bases. If you don't own the cartridge yet, make sure to check it out. Three awesome stamp sets come along with the purchase of this cartridge....

But back to the Easter egg... The Cricut cut the base out for me, including the scoring. All you have to do is fold it along the score line. The base is cut in Colonial White cardstock. I also cut the top layer in the new Canary yellow. The layer is slightly larger than the base and you can adhere it directly to the base or lift it up with some foam squares. I adhered it directly so the card would not be too bulky for sending in the mail.

Easter eggs and grass has also been cut with the Cricut machine, but these elements came from the "Art Philosophy" Collection (Z1686). Another Close to My Heart exclusive Cricut cartridge.

The bunny is an older stamp I love to use for this type of card. Colored in with watercolor pencils (3505) and adhered to a brown cardstock mat. I glued the grass on first, but I ran the glue just at the bottom of the grass strips. By doing so I was able to tuck the bunny and eggs behind the grass. Make sure to raise one or two eggs, as well as the phrase banner up with foam squares.

A piece of ribbon folded into a bow is the finishing touch to this card.

If you are interested to by any of my cards shown here on the blog, please contact me. I also offer class kits for you to work at home. (instructions and pictures included)

But the easiest way to learn how to create these cards is to join one of my card classes. For private classes or upcoming classes please contact me....stay tuned for more

"Brushed" Page Layout Technique 1

Last Friday I introduce the new "Brushed" layout. I often get the question: "How do I decorate my page once my layout is done?"

I usually use different material, depending on the layout. This "Brushed"(X7190B) paper pack gives you quite a few options.

I decided to use the Close to My Heart stamp set "A Budding Friendship" (D1602) and some Cranberry, Canary, Pixie and Sweat Leaf Ink to stamp the flowers and leafs seen in the picture.
Black ink for the outline seemed to be a bit harsh, so I used Slate (grey) ink instead.
I stamped all items on to daisy white cardstock and cut them out. Just arrange them in the corner of your picture and make sure to raise a few with foam dots. I left the upper left corner of the big flower adhesive free, so I can slight the picture behind it.

Another option for you to use are the "Brushed Complements" (X7190C). Beautiful vellum stickers which will enhance multiple layouts you create with this paper pack.
Or how about some metal flowers? The "Brushed Assortment" (Z3013) would be a great addition to you page too. Last but not least, you could cut out some of the flowers from the design paper and add them to your layout.

A Hoppy Easter - Cricut Card

This fun pop-up card was created with the help of my Cricut and "Artfully Sent" Cricut cartridge from Close to My Heart.

I love this new cartridge. I has a ton of different pop-up cards, embellishments and other elements on it. All useful for especially card makers, but at the same time for all scrapbook makers too.

The "Artfully Sent" cartridge will cut out and score the card base as well as the inside pop-up. Bunny and scarf will also be cut with the machine.

But the cuts are only one part of the process. In class we used the "A Little Note" (A1171) stamp of daffodils to create a back drop for the bunny. We colored them with some watercolor pencils (3505) to make them stand out.

Before you adhere your card pieces together, make sure the fold lines are scored nicely.

The brown bunny shape was edged with some brown chocolate ink. I adhered the scarf first before attaching the bunny to the pop-up part.

Last but not least, a little Easter egg was placed about the "O" of "Hoppy Easter" ...

Decorate the outside of your card and a cute pop-up bunny card is ready to sent out...

Do you like to know more about the pop-up cards and how they work, or how to use your watercolor pencils? Well, sent me an email for help or to find out when my next classes with these topics will start....

Summer Page Layout "Brushed" - Part I

"Brushed" is one of my favorite Close to My Heart paper pack from this years annual Idea Book. I love the vibrant colors, especially after this long and cold winter.

Doesn't this bring sunshine into your house?

This "Brushed" (X7190B) paper pack not only creates one layout, no, you have plenty of papers and cardstock to create at least 3 layouts from it. Add a few pieces of daisy white cardstock to it and you can create even more. Page 1 of this layout uses a 7 3/4"x5 3/4" picture. The photo mat measures 8"x6". You can also use two 3 3/4"x5 3/4" photos instead.

Why the odd picture sizes you wonder? Yes, normally you would use a 8"x6" or two 4"x6" pictures, but then you have to cut your photo mat about 1/4" bigger, which will result in a lot of paper scraps with odd measurements.

rather prefer to cut my pictures down slightly (just by a 1/4") which usually doesn't make a difference to the picture, but ...
... it makes my paper cutting more efficient!

If you like to know more about cutting papers, designing your layouts and get the most for you money form your supplies,...just sign up for one of my classes. I would love to show you how to do it!

If you like a kit of this layout to create at home (all items pre-cut and stamped), please contact me...stay tuned for more

Easter Egg Pocket Card

Easter is just around the corner and we started with our first Easter Cards in this months class.

This one is a cute card for a hidden message for Easter, some tickets or gift cards.

The pink base is cut out with the Cricut and the Close to My Heart "Artfully Sent Collection".
Before the pocket is assembled, I adhered some design paper on the inside behind the egg cut out.

The cut out comes with a fold line and two tabs to adhere the pocket together. Fold the tabs inside the pocket, place adhesive on them and fold the front over. You end up with a pocket that is open at the top.

The blue tag was part of the card and was cut out with the Cricut and the "Artfully Sent" Cartridge.

A little ribbon through the top, a "Happy Easter" on the front and room for greetings or gift cards on the back. Just slight the tag into the pocket and a little "Egg-tra" gift is done.

Please contact me if you like a set of this months classes or if you have any other question....

.... stay tuned for more "Egg-citements"
