Card Class October 2022 - Project 4

 

Here is our last card class project for October and again I use some of the sheet music paper to decorate the card front.

To make the card a bit more interesting I added a little faux closure to it. The poinsettia gets a little extra attention to make it look more 3-d. A little goes a long way, but this little detail brings it to life.

I used Close to My Heart cardstock in Cranberry and New England Ivy which are both retired but you can substitute them with Scarlett or Candied Apple and Pine. The design paper is from the “T’is the Season” collection and also a retired paper, but the new “Christmas Story” design paper will work too.

Christmas Card with a faux Poinsettia closure

 

Can you tell I love using sheet music pages for my Christmas cards? This one comes with a twist. I incorporated a faux closure with a poinsettia. Make sure to watch the video tomorrow to see how you bring your poinsettia to life with just a few little strokes and a stylus. Come back tomorrow and see the video.

This third card is thanks to an idea of a fellow maker named Jeanie Burch. She came up with the idea to convert the cover artwork from our new Oct-Dec 2022 into a card layout. If you haven’t seen the new book yet, here is a link to the online version for you:

Card Class Project September 2022 - Part 4

 

We had made three cards from the Close To My Heart “Crisp Air” Cardmaking Workshop this month and while the fourth one in the set is a pretty one too, I decided to pull out some golden oldies. While the design paper for this card is still available, sadly the Pumpkin Stamp and Die Set is no longer available.

Card Class June 2022 - Project 1 “Sip Sip Hurray”

Welcome to my June card class projects. This is a fun and easy design. You can apply the segments to many cards. Sadly the “Sip Sip Hurray” stamp set from Close To My Heart is no longer available, but if you don’t have a set of glasses like this on hand, be creative. Check for sets with multiple different items of a kind, e.g. coffee mugs, tea/coffee pots, cakes, bottles, flowers, animals, …you get the idea.

Tip:

I know I mentioned in the video I will explain how to use a base with the phrase already stamped on the inside, if you don’t need the phrase… well LOL I forgot, so I sliced in a little note. 

If you find yourself with a set that already contains a phrase on the inside, simply fold your card base the other way. Now the phrase can be found on the front (outside) of the card. Take your design papers and cover the front as suggested in the video and your phrase will disappear. Now you have a blank inside.
