Rejoice Card with Silver Cross

Here is the last Easter card from our March Cardmaking Class. 

We used again a 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" card base with the fold on the top. We cut a scalloped edged 5 1/4" square from purple cardstock and adhered it to the base.

The design paper square was cut at 4 1/4" but before it is adhered to the center of the card, we have to put it aside.

Take both pieces of green ribbon and fish it through the hook of the little silver cross. Now flip the design paper over and place the adhesive from your runner on the top right and left side. Start with pushing two ends of the ribbon into the adhesive. 






















Flip the paper carefully over and straighten out the ribbons and cross. Now simply fold the other two ends of the ribbons over and press to the backside.

Make sure everything is straight upfront before you add adhesive on the whole backside of the design paper. Center it on the purple cardstock piece.

All that is left to do now is add a little tag with a phrase to the front by using foam dots. Decorate with a little rhinestone and stamp the inside as well.

Easter Bookmark Card

This card can be used for Easter or you can change it slightly to a different theme. The basics stay the same.

The card base is a 7" x 5" card with a fold on the left side. I folded the front part of the card in half. To make sure the half would stay towards the left I used some red sticky tape to adhere it.

Now to the part where you create the pocket for your bookmark. The front (half) panel of the card will be adhered to the back panel with two strips of red sticky tape placed on the top and bottom of the half panel.

For the papers, we used blue cardstock measuring 2 1/2" x 6" and adhered it to the front, flush with the top. A small piece of design paper 2 1/2" x 1 1/4" is run through a scallop edge border punch and also adhered it to the bottom.

Another piece of design paper 2" x 4" is placed in the center of the blue paper. We stamped a phrase on an oval cutout and placed a matching scalloped oval behind it.

On the right side of the card base we stamped "There's nobunny like you" and doodled some stitch pattern around the edges.

For the bookmark we used the same papers and the same "Nobunny" stamp to decorate the strip.

There is enough room for a nice phrase or saying on the back of the bookmark.

A few rhinestones and some yellow ribbon finishing off this card.

Like I mentioned before, you can use any card base for this project. It all depends on how long your bookmark is, so it will fit in the pocket.

This card is also perfect for all these little paper pieces you have left. Why not create a stack of bookmarks with them? They can also make great gifts in itself.

Church Window Card for LED Light

For our second Easter card we used a white card base measuring 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" with the fold on top.

I used my Cricut cutting machine and a digital image of the church window to cut both layers. The window without the details was cut from the card base.

A piece of vellum cut at 2 3/4" x 4 3/4" is placed right on top of the cut out. You can adhere the vellum to the outside of the card with just a little bit of adhesive around the opening. The vellum will be covered later on.

Next I had my machine cut the window and the detailed window portion from a square piece of 5" "Tangerine" colored cardstock. I adhered the middle detailed part of the cutout on the vellum and decorated it with a small silver cross.

The square with the window is placed in a brick embossing folder. Make sure the paper is place in the folder the right way so the bricks are horizontal.

The backside of the square is covered with foam dots and adhered to the front of the card lining the window opening up with the detailed cutout on the vellum.

I found this phrase on the internet and used my computer to print it out. Cut to the size of 3 1/2" x 2" I used some light ink and a cross stamp to add a little background to the piece. 

Again we used foam dots to ad it to the front and a small silver decor underneath.


The inside is decorated with the same light ink and stamp used on the front.

You can also add some doodling on the inside using a black pen.

You can also use this card with a small LED light. Stand the card up and place the LED light behind the vellum. Make sure to let your recipient know ;-)

Easter Egg Card with Flowers

Easter is around the corner and what would be more perfect than a cute Easter Egg card? 

I started with a card base of 7" x 5" folded on the left side. I made a template from an egg shape cut with my handy Cricut machine. The template is about 1/2" bigger than the yellow cardstock layer we will later add to it.

I placed the template on the card base in a way that the top fits inside the card and the bottom is slightly hanging over the card base. 
Make sure !!!!! that your left side of the template is reaching over the fold about 1/8" so it creates a hing for the card. In case you fit the template right inside your base, well you will end up with two separate egg shapes ;-)

 The picture on the right from the inside of the card shows the hing that was created. Beside the shape, you can also see the inside stamped image that was used.

Now lets talk about decorations, shall we. These Easter Egg cards can be decorated in many different ways. This year we used a bunch of flowers to make them pretty.

I used the newest Cricut cartridge from the Close to My Heart family called "Flower Market". This cartridge is loaded with flowers and everything around it.  

I cut one flower set out in pink colors and reversed it for the blue ones. I also used the little flower vine to frame the egg even more.

The egg shape is cut about 1/2" smaller than the template from the card. I used yellow cardstock for it. The yellow layer measured 5 3/4" x 4 1/2" and I also run it through an embossing machine.

The flower vine is cut of two layers. One is the green vine base and then the little blue flowers that are adhered on the matching green spots.



The pink and blue flower bunches are a little bit more detailed. You will cut 4 layers with those. The first layer is the green one. The second is in my case a purple one which is only the flowers. This layer will fit on the green one lining up with the green flower portion. Then I cut the flowers in a dark pink and light pink (or as in the other set a dark blue and a light blue). I adhered the darker flowers first, flat on the purple bases. They also match up perfectly with the purple images. The little pink flowers will be added to one of the leaf like green buds. It doesn't matter really which one of the green leafs you pick. Finally the light pink flowers are added with some foam dots to the purple matching shapes.
You will do the same with the blue set!

I adhered the vine flowers on top of the yellow egg first. Next I laid out my pink and blue flowers and adhered them to the yellow egg as well. The phrase was stamped on a scalloped square which I cut out in pink for a second time. The pink layer is simply offset under the white layer and both have been added with foam dots to the card. 
Last but not least, a little bow is finishing of this card.

March Card Class Projects - Easter

Welcome to my Easter Card projects for the month of March. 

The first card we created was this super cute Easter Egg card. The egg shape was transferred onto a card base measuring 7"x 5". When transferring the egg shape, make sure to have the shape overlap the left side a bit. Reason being, so you have a card base that actually opens ;-) if you fit your shape right in the center of the card all you create are two egg shapes.
The yellow egg shape is cut about 1/2" smaller than the base and run through an embossing machine. 
All flowers have been cut from the Close to My Heart Cricut Cartridge "Flower Market".  

Here is an example of a religious Easter card which could be transferred into a Sympathy card as well. The card base is a 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" and the fold is on the top. I have the window cut out of the card base front and placed a piece of vellum right over it. I glued it on the outside of the card since it will be covered with the brick part later.
I used a piece of cardstock to cut out the decorative window and while the window is adhered right in the center of the vellum, the other part of the paper is run through an embossing machine to create the brick pattern.
I found this phrase online and it was just the right one to use for this card.
When you sent this card out, make sure the owner knows that they can place a LED light inside to have the light shine through the window. 

Here is a take on on bookmark cards. You can never have enough bookmarks right? Well how about sending some greetings and including a little reminder too?
The card base is a 7" x 5" card. I folded the front part in half and adhered it to the other half. Now your card front is a half front, while the back side stays intact. Place some red sticky tape on the front half inside. Just on the top and the bottom this way you create a pocked that can hold your bookmark.

The bookmark is covered with the same papers and if you like, add a little greeting or poem to the back of it.




Last but not least, here is a card with a special little gift on the front. You can find these silver crosses in all varieties and sizes at your local retailers. I used a 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" square card base and your fold can be either on the left or on the top, like mine is. 
I cut two layers for the front. The cardstock was raised with foam dots, but hold on with the design paper layer until the cross is adhered. I simply threaded both ribbons through the cross. I then adhered both ribbon ends on the left side at the back of the paper. Make sure the cross is right side up and the ribbons are nice and flat before you adhere the other ends to the back. Now it is time to adhere the piece in the center of the cards stock.

Easter Cross Card

This is the last card of out March card classes. Sadly the camera didn't quite pick up the colors.

We used a regular white card base and adhered a piece of lavender colored cardstock 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" to the front. Next we rounded all four corners to match the next two layers.

Both frame layers were cut with the Cricut machine and are just about 1/8" different in size. To archive more depth we adhered the darker purple to the base first using foam dots. Following it the lighter purple layer also adhered with foam dots.





The cross was stamped twice on cream cardstock and fuzzy cut. They are adhered on top of each other with foam dots.

The green circle it adhered flat to the base towards the top of the card so the "Rejoice" phrase would fit underneath. We carefully stamped the phrase to the inside of the frames. Last, adhere the cross to the center of the oval and decorate with a few rhinestones.

Happy Easter Card with Chickadee

No Easter without a little chickadee, right? And this one is so cute. I have to admit, this is a SU stamp set, but it was just so perfect for this months class.

Due to a lot of fuzzy cutting for the other cards we made, I thought we needed something more ...well, let's say less intense ;-)

Let's start with the super difficult instructions of this card....























You will need a white card base measuring 4 1/4" x 5 1/2", a piece of white cardstock at 3 1/4" x 5 1/2", two strips of grey cardstock about 1/2" x 5 1/2" and a piece of design paper about 3/4" x 5 1/2". I picked some yellow design paper to match the rest of my colors in this card. 


All stamping was done on the extra piece of white cardstock. The phrase was stamped in grey ink and the chicken is stamped in black. To color the little chicken you can use any coloring tools you have on hand. We used alcohol markers in two shades of yellow to color in the body as well as an orange and grey marker.

To assemble the card, first adhere a grey strip flush to the top and bottom of the card. Next adhere the design paper strip to the bottom of the card leaving about 1/4" of the grey showing. Wrap some bakers twine or ribbon around the white cardstock piece before adding it with foam dots to the front of your card. Make sure it is centered so part of the design paper as well as the grey cardstock on top will show.

Add some decoration to the inside and your card is done.

Easter Bunny Family Greetings

Here is our second Easter card. We used the Close to My Heart Stamp of the Month set from February.

Cute little bunny family with happy flowers and a pretty "Happy Easter" greetings.

Since Easter comes in so many colors we did mix up the card bases a little bit. We used pink, blue and yellow cardstock to create the base of this card. It is called an easel card and is pretty simple to archive.

The base is a regular 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of cardstock folded in half. We then folded the front of the card in half again, creating the little stand base. To make sure the folded part doesn't fall flat when put up we added a piece of green cardstock cut at 1" x 5 1/2"with foam dots to the inside of the card. To decorate the strip, we stamped the Easter phrase and a few little flowers to a pieces of 3/4" x 5 1/2" piece of cream cardstock. You can add this strip directly to the green strip or use more foam dots. 

To decorate the easel part of the card, we stamped the little bunny family first on brown cardstock. Then we stamped the clothing part of each bunny on some design paper. Next, yes, more fuzzy cutting again. First off, cut out the clothes and adhere them to the bunny body. Then fuzzy cut the bunnies themselves. 



The background is built from a piece of green cardstock and cream lattice (cut with the Cricut) adhered to each other. When attaching this piece to the easel part of the card front, make sure you only place adhesive on the lower part of the piece. Fold the front of the card over so it stands up and adhere the green lattice piece flush to the bottom of the easel with the rest standing up. Add your bunnies with glue and foam dots to the lattice. Make sure the bunny is flush with the side and the ears are not reaching over the edges of the base (otherwise it will not fit into your envelope). Decorate with some eggs and your card is done.

The card folds flat to be sent in the mail. The side view of the card will give you a better idea how it is folded and how items are adhered. It's a little hard to describe here ..LOL... maybe I should look into creating videos for these things.

Well I hope you like this little cute card as much as we did when we made it. The base is a great way change up your "regular" cards so give it a try.

Nostalgic Easter Card

 Welcome to our Easter Card Class we had in March. I am a little late with my postings and my apologies for this delay. Sometimes things don't work the way you plan them and when your camera goes on strike it's getting only worse from there....
...I am still not happy with my pictures, but they have to do for now, before I get even more behind. Maybe it's time for a new camera? 

So, in March we worked on some Easter cards and this is the first of four. I won this lovely stamp set with the antique hyacinths and eggs from Anna Griffin and I thought they make the perfect starting point for our Easter cards.

The base is a regular 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" colonial white (cream) card. I cut a piece of 4" x 5 1/4" colonial white cardstock and die-cut a big oval shape in the center of it. The green cardstock is cut with the Cricut. I used an oval scalloped shape and run it through my embossing machine. 

To ensemble the card, first stamp the decorative corner onto the cream cardstock with the oval cut out. Adhere piece centered to the card base and layer the green cardstock with foam dots into the center of the oval cut out.

Next you need to stamp the hyacinths and eggs. I used sponge dabbers to add the ink to the stamp set. I started with the purple color and dabbed it onto the flowering part of the stamp. I dabbed the green in along the leaves and stems and finalize the pot with cocoa brown ink. Once all ink layers are applied I stamped the image on cream cardstock with a good amount of pressure. You have to work quick with the inks and in case a test stamping doesn't give you a good result, try huffing on the stamp before placing it onto the paper.

The eggs are inked up like normal and also stamped on cream cardstock. Now comes the fun part....fuzzy cutting! Yes, you have to cut around the flowers and eggs.

Now all that is left is to decorate the flowers and eggs to the front of the card. A little Easter greeting and this card is done.

Easter Bunny Card

This is the third card we created in this months class and it could be an Easter card, but it also makes a super cute birthday card. Don't you think? I have seen this design so many times online which makes it hard to give the person who came up with this idea credit. Thank you for this inspiration!

The front of the card shows the cute bunny butt stuck in the tree hole. I decided to adhere a piece of kraft cardstock stamped with a woodgrain stamp to the front and back of the card. The piece measures 4" x 5 1/4" centered and adhered. I used a 2 1/2" circle punch to make the hole in the front. I used the same punch to cut out a chocolate brown circle for the inside. This circle lines up with the hole upfront.

For all other parts of the bunny and the flowers and greens I used my Cricut machine and my Close to My Heart cartridges. The bunny is assembled from circles, ovals and a heart shaped image. I used pink cardstock sponged with Cotton Candy to create the bottom of his feet and the inside of his ears. I sponged the eyes with some Glacier ink and added the little whiskers by using my journaling pen. It is hard to describe in detail here how to place the pieces and how and where to adhere them, but if you like to make this card, please let me know. You can order kits or come and make it yourself :-) 

The green is a long strip that I cut in thirds. I decorated each flower with a little pink rhinestone and this cute card is done.

Easter Card - Rejoice

Here is our second card from the April card class. 

I used the Close to My Heart stamp set "Rejoice" (A1184) which will retire April 30th. I really like this cross and if you would like the set as well, make sure to order it soon.

I started with a Daisy White cardstock folded on the left side. Next I cut a piece of buttercup cardstock measuring 4"x 5 1/4". I used my Cuttlebug and an embossing folder to create the design you see on the card. 

I cut a piece of 3 1/4" x 2 3/4" cardstock in grey (slate) and a 3" x 2 1/2" in white cardstock.
The cross was stamped with Versamark Watermark ink on the white cardstock. Next I added some silver embossing powder and heat set it. This cross design has so many beautiful details that really look stunning when you use embossing powder. I adhere the white cardstock in the center of the grey one and place the ensemble with foam dots towards the top of my card base.

For the rest of the embellishments I used a piece of white sheer ribbon that I adhered to the bottom of the card. I only placed some adhesive on the backside to the left and right and wrapped the ribbon around. This way I didn't had to struggle with the adhesive on the front coming through this delicate ribbon. Now it is time to place adhesive and the backside of the buttercup cardstock and place it in the center of the card base. This secures the ribbon as well.

I stamped my "Rejoice" phrase with slate ink on a small tag and added it with foam dots over the ribbon onto the card. A few pearls finishing off this card. If you like, you can stamp another cross impression in the inside of your card as well.

Easter Card

Easter is almost here and this month we created some Easter cards in class.

For this card we used the Close to My Heart stamp set "Easter Wishes" (B1422)which will retire July 31st.

The card base is made from Colonial White cardstock and folded on top. I cut a piece of kraft cardstock at 4 x 5 1/4"and centered it on the card base.

A piece of colonial white is cut at 5" x 3". I used a strip of buttercup cardstock 5" x 2" and embossed it before I punched out half a circle on the top right. 

I adhered the cream cardstock to the top of the kraft piece. I simply laid the yellow piece on the bottom of the kraft piece and marked the circle portion and the top of the left side for stamping. Now I used chocolate brown ink to stamp the chicken image and the phrase on the cream color piece. I erased the pencil lines and started assembling the card further.

I used a strip of 1/2" x 5" of craft cardstock and adhered a small strip of crochet ribbon to it. Next I used my bakers twine and wrapped it around finishing it of with a bow.

I attached the piece to the buttercup cardstock and placed the whole assemble with foam dots to the card base, flush on the bottom of the kraft cardstock.

I simply stamped my "Happy Easter" inside the card and decorated it with the half circle that was punched out earlier.

If you feel like it, you can color the little chicken in with some pencils or watercolors.
