A Rose Card

Roses are always a wonderful way to sent someone special some very special wishes. This could be a wonderful birthday card, get well card or like in my case a sympathy card.

Sadly I had to make another sympathy card for a wonderful neighbor and good friend. I hope these little flowers will brighten her day a little bit.

The roses are stamped with the Close To My Heart "Happy Valentine's" stamp set in chocolate ink. I colored each rose in with tulip ink and the CTMH blending pen. This give you a very soft look and if you like your colors a little bit deeper, just go over the flower again. Make sure the ink dries in between.
The leaves are colored in the same way with garden green ink. 



I used my Cuttlebug machine and a wonderful rose embossing plate from Anna Griffin. Both, the rose and the white piece of cardstock are embossed and the white layer is adhered with foam dots.

The grey tab with the nesting white piece are cut with a Spellbinder die-cut. 






I used a grey chiffon ribbon to go around the white cardstock and adhered the flowers and other embellishments. The roses are cut out with a craft knife.

If I would color the flowers in with watercolor pens to archive the same color result, I would have to use StazOn permanent ink to stamp the design. Why you ask? Well, the regular ink is water-based and your image would smear once you use water to active the water pens. With this technique, you use your inks as colors and the blending tool as a non water medium, which means the blending pen will not smear your outlines of the image you stamped. Love it...and the colors will always match your cardstock too.

Heartfelt Wishes

This is another layout I love to make for cards. I used it here for a sympathy card, but the layout will work for birthdays and other occasions as well.

I used a 5x7 card base and a template to cut the front.

The blue paper is from Close To My Heart. I embossed the paper, adhered it to the front and cut the design on the bottom again.

 The tags are cut with Spellbinders. The green leaves are stamped first and then hand cut.

 These wonderful roses are stamped with the Close To My Heart stamp "Crossword puzzle". I stamped the rose 4 times on patterned paper. The base rose is cut out completely. The next layer was cut out with a few leaves on the outside missing. I continued to do this with the next two layers as well. This means the last layer is just the middle part of the rose. Ink the edges and adhere the parts with glue dots. 

 The little dimensions of the glue dots give the rose just the right 3D effect. I recreated the flowers in blue, but here I worked with only 3 layers. This way you can create different sizes of roses as well.

Assemble card with foam dots and decorate with pearls or rhinestones.

A little Card Pouch - Part 2

Welcome to part two of our little card pouch project. We already created the pouch and all four envelopes for our project, so all that's left are the four cards to go with it. All cards are 4x4.

A little Card Pouch - Part 1

My newest project for our monthly card club is this lovely little card pouch. We will create the pouch including 4 cards and envelopes (4x4). Don't you sometimes look for a little card that goes with a gift or present? Well this project will give you 4 wonderful choices packed in a wonderful pouch.

All papers used for this project are from the new Close To My Heart collection "CHANTILLY". I love this paper! The colors are just what spring and summer should look like. If you like to see more of this wonderful paper pack, check out the online Idea Book or contact me for more information.

Once you open the pouch, you will find on each side a compartment for two cards and envelopes. The 4x4 size cards fit in nicely. If desired, decorate the inside of the pouch with paper or stamping too.

 All envelopes were created from 5x7 envelopes that I had left. The Michigan humidity made them not usable for regular cards anymore, but perfect for this project.  

I used more of the "CHANTILLY" paper to make the flaps more interesting.





 All you have to do for now is round the corners on the flaps and your pouch and envelopes are done.
