A Cake Gift

How about a cake you don't have to bake? Sounds good? Well let's see how we can make this one:

Again, we used a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card base. The front was covered with a piece of design paper in the same size. The next layer is a piece of embossed cream colored cardstock, about 1/8" shorter on each side. I used a green piece of cardstock, also embossed and an oval cut out in the middle that is placed with foam dots on top of the cream one.

The cake is assembled from three pieces of design paper, each 1 1/2" high and 3 1/4", 2 1/2" and 1 3/4" long. Another strip of design paper is used as decoration of each layer. These strips are cut 1/2" thick.

I created the paper bow out of four pieces cut with the Cricut cartridge Artiste from Close To My Heart.

The fist cake layer is attached to the front with glue, while I used a foam dot in the middle of the layer so it holds up in the oval shape. The middle layer is places flat inside the oval, slightly above the first one. The third layer is again glued to the front with a foam dot in the middle on the bottom.

The bow is attached on top of the last cake layer.
A tag is stamped with your choice of sentiment and also attached with foam dots.

The cake is done and ready to be sent out.

Let me know if you like a set of Septembers Workshop cards and stay tuned for one more project of this class...
