For our second projects we focused on the pretty “Pumpkin Spice” paper collection from Close to My Heart. I have to say, I love this paper collections with the warm fall colors.... shortbread, papaya and harbour. Warm and cozy colors and I love the designs of this collection.
So this card uses some of the new papers and cardstocks and a few golden oldies if it comes to stamps. If you don’t happen to have this pumpkin stamp, don’t worry, use one you have or even a die-cut will work just fine.

I used some "Pumpkin Spice" paper, Harbour & Papaya cardstock, BlueBelle & Papaya glitter paper, Harbour ink and some BlueBelle Shimmer Brush for the sprinkles in the background.

Here is our first project for the month of September. Today we are using the beautiful sunflowers from the “Bloom with Grace” paper pack and we pair it with one of our wood grain papers.
If you don’t have wood grain papers or texture papers in your stash at home, this is a must have. They always work so well with a lot of different paper collections or just by themselves.
While you could place each strip of paper on your card base just as they are, it makes it so more interesting when you give them a little texture. One way to create texture is by ripping the paper along one edge. We took about 1/4” of the green and sunflower paper off. Just carefully rip along the edge towards you. For assembling the card, start with the wood grain paper first, then layer the green and sunflower paper on top.

Remember the card I showed you last week with the pretty little flowers in a jar? Yes, this is one you can make for any occasion and while this stamp/die set is no longer available, there are other similar ones in the books.
Be creative ;-) You might have one of our Cricut cartridges and I am sure there is a jar on one or two of them. Don't have a stamp to go along with it? Grab a black journaling pen and put your own outlines in. Use some twine to wrap around the top and get some flowers ready to put in the jar.

Today we are looking at Close to My Heart stamp and die set that was sold a couple months ago and is sadly no longer available. Well you might as, why do you show it to us then?

It still has the jar and some really cute phrases that fit right into it and I am pretty sure you might have some flower dies/ stamps on hand to use them on this card. This particular set is called "Gnome Matter Stamp and Thin Cut" (Z3741) and it is still available ;-) You can get it as just the stamp set but who wants to cut out all these little cute guys by hand right? And believe me you will create many.
So I used some of my left over papers to create the little flags and in class we played around with the watercolor pencils. They are so much fun and if you like to see how easy they are to use.....check the video tutorial out:

This was a huge success in May and while we still can't do a personal Album retreat, this is the next best thing. While this workshop comes with a great design for 3 double page layouts, I had to change it a bit since my photos didn’t work with the layouts in the kit. So why by a kit then right? Well there are so many great ideas and techniques involved in each of them plus you get special designed cutouts, papers and more.
I always love to buy these kits and just add an extra pack of coordination cardstock with it. This way if I need to change a layout I have plenty of cardstock to work with, plus I can create more pages...
At the same time I can just assemble the layouts like described in the instruction guide. Every piece of paper that might need to be cut, every die cut and special paper is included. You can detailed instructions on how to created all three layouts.
I mix and match my layouts all depending on the photos I have put aside for the project. Yes, before you start with either the workshop guide or your own creations, make sure you have your pictures ready to go because it is so much easier to work with the sets, if you have photos to match them too.

If you have question please feel free to contact me. Also a little heads up... at the ports in California there are still many ships locked up in customs and waiting for processing. You might say so? Why does this effect me? Well, many of our products come through these channels and while our stamps are all made in house, the thin cuts for example come from overseas.
This means while you might be able to get your acrylic stamp sets right now with no problem, the sets with thin cuts might be on backorder or not here at all. But luckily we are getting notifications almost every day that backorder products are in. So if you see something and you can't find it online that's maybe why. Just be patient and contact me to see where things are standing. I know I am as excited as you are and while we as Makers often get the chance to play with all these goodies ahead of the release of the new book, well in this case we are sitting in the same boat and patiently awaiting things to come in.
But we have already a lot of products in the warehouse and just the past 2 days we got a lot more of the new Sep-Oct book in, so take your time to stroll through the books and when you are ready let me know ;-)
